Back from a trip to New York via the UK, I was looking
forward to playing some golf again. Dark clouds were threatening rain but luckily they made way to some hazy sunshine.
We had a full house ready to play Individual Stableford. The outstanding player was Michael with a
magnificent score of 41 points, including a very good shot on hole 14 for
nearest to the pin. But Michael, being a
modest sort of chap, pointed out that his 4-iron shot was somewhat lucky?!
There were also two special prizes today for the best scores
on all par 4’s and par 5’s for players with handicaps 21+ and handicaps up to
20 respectively. After the golf, the membership and their guests assembled to celebrate the 80th birthday of Neville Woodfine, our new President and one of the founder members of our Society. Please see the separate report and photos.
Todays results:
Gordon Burton won the par 4’s with 22 points and
Bob Crow won the par 5’s with 10 points.
Nearest the pins:
Hole 4 Jim ReidHole 8 Greta Biersteker
Hole 11 Guy Letort
Hole 14 Michael Davison
There were also 4 2’s today. Unsurprisingly Greta on
hole 8 and Michael on hole 14, but also John Rigby on hole 8 and John Garnett
on hole 14. They all received the customary golf balls.
The main competition results were:
5th place with 34 points off 8 hcp, Greta
