This was our first Away-Day in the new Society year qualifying for the Bill Williams Away Day Shield. For this our Captain had arranged to play at Font del Llop, a course which
some of our members find quite challenging as it is set in mountainous terrain
with sloping fairways and challenging greens.
We played Individual Stableford and one player stood out with an
excellent score, Pascale the winner with 37 points. Congratulations go also to Alan Perry who
came second in his very first game after his return from the UK.
Whilst some of us struggled to keep the putting
strokes down, there were four players putting in for a two and substanially
depleting the stock of golf balls given as recognition on such an occasion,
to the detriment of our sponsor Bob Crow. There were 5 results of 30 points, but Bob and Roger had the best two scores on the back 9 and came fourth and fifth respectively which, incidentally, were the same placings they recorded in the previous week.
We welcomed one guest today, Eddie who has recently moved to Spain and is looking to join a Golf Society and lo and behold won the guest prize.

The four birdies on the par 3's were Nino Alvares, Angel Centenera and John Coubrough, all on hole 16 and our newest member Jan van Spellen on hole 17.

5th place with 30 points off 14 hcp – Roger Hunger
4th place with 30 points off 14 hcp – Bob Crow, beating Roger on the back 9
3rd place with 31 points off 28 hcp – our Vice Captain Gordon Burton
2nd place with 33 points off 21 hcp – Alan Perry
1st place with 37 points off 26 hcp – Pascale Leroux
