2016: Individual Stableford (9.3.)

Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 9th March 2016

It was a lovely sunny day as we assembled to play today’s competition which was Indivdual Stableford. We had a good turn-out of 29 members and 3 guests.  Unfortunaely, as the morning progressed, the sun disappeared behind a layer of clouds, the wind increased and the temperatures dropped. But what can you expect from the weather in early March.
There were some very good scores today. The first and second and also the third and fourth place required a countback on the back 9. In fact, Brian and Santi were neck and neck and could only be separated by the scores on the back 3. Commiseration to Santi who could have gone into the lead if he had only scored one single point on the last two holes! The game of golf can be so frustrating!
Bob Crow is continuing to be in the prizes and is in top form again after his operation and is building up a nice lead in the Consistency Chart. There was also a very good result from Greta, our only lady member with a single-figure handicap. Congratuations go to all of today’s winners, including Roger who, having recently returned from his extensive travels to Peru and New Zealand, was playing his usual steady game.
Today was the day when two of our sponsors were winning their own prizes: Bob Crow receiving the customary ball for a two and Gordon Burton, our Vice-Captain, winning his own Monthly Prize of hidden holes.

Summarising the results as follows:

Guest Prize: Jean-Louis, one of our French friends, with 32 points.
Vice-Captain’s Prize: best  total score on holes 2, 5, 17 and 18 - Gordon Burton with 9 points.

Nearest the pin:
Hole 4             Richard Davis
Hole 8             Jim Reid
Hole 11           John Webber
Hole 14           Brian Wakeley
