Responding to feedback from last year, I have decided to play the hotel's own course on Days 1 and 3 for two reasons - to cut down on travel time during the trip, and to give a chance for people to have a second go at one of the courses. In between, on Day 2, we will play the beautiful course at Lo Romero.
The dates are Sunday 14th to Tuesday 16th May to include bed, breakfast and evening meal (drinks package included), and three rounds of golf with shared buggies. Their two main restaurants will provide the evening meals. Anyone staying for extra days before or after the trip could also include a visit to their Italian or Sushi restaurants!
Travelling by car from Bonalba to the Mar Menor Hotel takes around one and a half hours. Players will be asked to travel early on Sunday 14th and play golf soon after arrival. The first tee time will be 09h30. On Day 3 there will not be a formal meal after the final round of golf at Mar Menor (first tee off at around 8.30 a.m.) However, there are good tapas and lunch options for those waiting for the last groups of golfers to finish. Final presentations will take place after this round in the hotel.
Provisionally (because it depends on final numbers), the price for 2 nights in a twin/double room, breakfast and dinner, and 3 rounds of golf including shared buggies is 340€ per person. The price for a single room for 2 nights bed, breakfast and dinner, and 3 rounds of golf with shared buggy is 430€.
The price for 2 nights for a non-golfer in a double/twin room, breakfast and dinner is 200€.
The trip is open to Costa Blanca members, their families and close golfing friends. It is unfortunate to have to put a limit on the total number of golfers who can participate, but I need to set a limit of 40 because this would produce a reasonable number of tee times without excessive waiting time at the end of a round.
Many people have asked me to go back to this lovely hotel and its nearby courses, so I'm hoping for a very positive response! A deposit of 50 euros per person will secure a place in the first instance. I am beginning to ask people to sign up already, so please see me with your 50€ as soon as possible from now on. Further monies will need to be paid early in the New Year.
