2017: Indiv. Stableford (22.2.)

Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 22nd February 2017

There were 39 members this morning who signed in to compete in today’s Individual Stableford competition.  In recent weeks we have been fully booked on most Wednesdays and as our Captain pointed out, please book your space as soon as possible to ensure your place in the competition.
In addition to the normal prizes, we also enjoyed the monthly “Hidden Hole” prize which is now generously sponsored by John and Jan who have taken over sponsorship from Gordon. They decided to award the prize this month for the best score an all par 3’s.  There were 4 players who scored an excellent 11 points, therefore the winner had to be based on the better score on the back 9.  Chris, Guy and Brian Hines all had 5 points, making Les Wilkinson the winner with 6 points.
Congratulations to our Captain Gordon on winning today’s competition. It is good to see that his duties as Captain does not seem to distract him from playing a good round of golf.  Keep up the good work, Gordon!  Also congratulations to Richard, “the old man” Franco, Stan and Johnny G for being in the top five.  Chris who also scored 34 points, narrowly missed out to John as he had a better back 9.
As announced last week, today we had the first coaching session from Juan-Alberto which was enjoyed by all the members who had subscribed to it. All we need to do now is to transfer the chipping skill from the practice ground to the course.

Before prize giving, the Captain mentioned the wine tasting at the Bodega in Campello the previous evening which was well supported by nearly 40 members and guests  and was enjoyed greatly. We are now looking forward to the next venue in March which is the Monthly Medal Meal at the restaurant El Foguers in Campello.
