Venue: Villaitana Golf, 18 March 2015
Today we had our first Away-Day qualifier for the 2015
Bill Williams Away-Day Trophy. 20 members and guests were ready to play on this
ever popular course. The slope of
Villaitana is much lower than that of our home course Bonalba, resulting in a
cut of everybodies playing handicap, especially the ladies’ handicap as the tee
positions are very much forward. Although
the course is supposed to be easier than Bonalba, on this occasion we all
struggled to conquer it. In fact, it
played 4 over par. Why was it so
difficult? Well, our excuse was the weather. We had expected rain. Fortunately, that did
not materialise. However we found out
that the saying “beware the ides of March” also applies to the weather in
Spain. We did not get the rain but
biting winds instead which were keeping the temperatures low and we were all
frozen through.
However, all this did not deter Stephen Grey. He braved the cold and came in with a great
score. Well done, Stephen, and how did
you manage to sink these long putts time and time again?

Today`s guest prize was won by John Rigby’s
