Venue: Bonalba
Golf & Spa, 4 March 2015
Time is flying when you are having fun playing golf as
the Monthly Medal competition was here again.
There was a full turnout of 36 players and this is to remind players to
put their names down on the “tee-times list” on the board as early as they can
to enable the Captain to try and negotiate extra tee times if required.
The morning started with very misty conditions,
reminiscent of the foggy conditions all too often experienced back in the UK.
Luckily, the mist cleared later giving us more pleasant conditions of no wind ,
some sun and reasonable temperatures.
However, the pleasant conditions did not seem to help with our scores
today. The difference between the winner’s
and the runner up scores was unusually large. In fact, the overall results were
remarkably high for no obvious reasons, making the course play 4 times more
difficult than standard and the computer handicap adjustment called for “RO”
(reduction only). Congratulations go to
the winner, Gay Brooks, one of our newer members and the only one who bucked
the trend.
Our Monthly Medal Lunch this time was at the Thai
Restaurant in San Juan, always a popular choice.
The guest prize was won by Roger Hunger, who has now
joined the Society as a member.
