It was a beautiful day for golf and for Greta our Vice Captain to organise her first C.B.G.S. competition in which 33 members and 3 guests played. We wish Gordon a well deserved rest on his two week holiday in Cyprus. Fear not Gordon, everything is in very good hands.
Today was the final qualification day for the Campbell and Lamont tournament to be held at La Sella Golf Club in May. Four players were to be selected and qualification was by an accumulative total of members' best four scores played on nominated days throughout the year. Today's scores made a huge difference to final placings and made for an exciting finish. Michael Davison remained in the lead with his 143 points. However, Brian Hines, Roger Hunger and Jan Boultbee improved their scores and this took them into the first four placings. Roger with a magnificent score of 43 stableford points came from well behind to join Michael at the top with 143 points. A total also achieved by Brian Hines who increased his score today. Jan Boultbee bettered her score to reach 140 points. Unfortunately, Roger is unable to attend the final at La Sella. His place has been taken by Richard Davis who finished in 5th place with a total of 138 points.
With his outstanding score of 43 points, Roger won the stableford competition but there were some other very good results. Chris van Bemmelen putted magnificently to score 38 points which on most days would have been sufficient to win the competition. He was closely followed by Brian Hines with 37 points, Brian Wakely with 36 points and Edy Rogers and Jan Boultbee both with 35 points. Overall it was a very good day for our members, 20 of whom scored 30 points or more.

5th place Edi Rogers off a handicap of 16 made 35 points (beating Jan Boultbee on countback)
4th place Brian Wakely off a handicap of 21 made 36 points
3rd place Brian Hines off a handicap of 19 made 37 points
2nd place Chris van Bemmelen off a handicap of 20 made 38 points
1st place Roger Hunger off a handicap of 16 made 43 points
