Venue: Bonalba
Golf & Spa, 24 January 2018
Today we played Individual Stableford.
All tee-times were taken up with 39 members and 1 guest competing. The
weather forecast had predicted cooler temperatures but to our delight, this
proved to be incorrect and we were soon able to get rid of the restricting
outer layers of clothing.
Unlike last week at Vistabella, where the tees were favouring the ladies,
due to hollow-tining of the tee boxes, today at Bonalba, most of the yellow
tees were favouring the men. This seemed to be reflected in the overall points
scored. There were 6 players with a
respectable 35 points but this score was not good enough to be in the prizes. Congratulations to Brian Wakely who was way
in front with 43 points and to the runners-up who all played to par or better. There was some consolation for the rest of us as Jan announced the winner of the Hidden Holes prize which goes to a player who is not in the main prizes. This time the prize was for the best total score on holes 2, 7, 13 and 17 which were thought to be the most difficult holes. Well done Luc Verhaegen who scored 8 points.
On the par 3 hole 11, Noel Kelly, one of our new members, had a very good shot onto the green and was nearest to the pin until the last flight when Nino was even nearer and came close to a hole in one.
Before prize giving, the Captain reminded everyone who would like to go
on the Away Trip in May 2018, to see Greta urgently as it is nearly fully
booked.
Summarising the results as follows:
John and Jan’s Hidden Holes: Luc Verhaegen with 8
points
