Venue: Bonalba
Golf & Spa, 31 January 2018
Today was the last competition to be arranged by our out-going Captain
Gordon. The format was combined Stableford.
He certainly got the team spirit going as he chose to split everyone
into two teams of 20, the Pinks and the Blues, which were the colours of our
last two Society shirts. We were
delighted as half of everyone attending would receive a prize, in addition to
the nearest the pins and par 3 birdies. He
also had a prize for the longest putt on holes 5 and 13, two difficult par-5 greens.
However, the winners Brian Hines and
Angel, made it look easy as they both putted in from off the green.
Each flight consisted of a Pink and Blue pairing, giving the extra motivation
of winning their flight. Although the two
highest scoring pairs were from the Blues, the Pinks were the overall winners,
retaining their “Colour” from the previous time this format was played. Well done the Pinks!Gordon also awarded a prize to the highest scoring pair in the losing team. Congratulations go to Nino and David who narrowly beat Maureen and Jean-Paul.
After prize giving, we held our AGM where the new Captain Greta was
voted in. We wish her well for her year of Captaincy!
Also, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our out-going
Captain Gordon Burton for all his hard work to provide us with a well organised
and very enjoyable year of golf and social events. With our best wishes, Gordon, you can now
concentrate on your golf again!
