For this, her first competition, Greta had chosen a team game in which
teams of two were “chasing the Captains”,
i.e. the new and the former Captain Richard. All pairs took their better net
stroke score on each hole and compared it with the one from Greta and
Richard. We were counting a plus, a zero
or a minus on each hole according to whether our scores were better, equal or
worse than the score of the Captains. If this sounds a little bit complicated,
it actually wasn’t. We thoroughly
enjoyed this format which was a first for our Society. Thank you Greta, we look
forward to some more “firsts” during your year of Captaincy.
We were 20 pairs in total and some of us managed to beat the Captains. A
mention goes to Michael and Kate and also to Chris and Ray who, although both beating
the Captains by +2, were not in the prizes.
John and Jan (no, not his wife) and Eddy and Martine were a very
successful pairing. However, James and
Gordon came top with a superb score of +6.
Congratulations!
After prize giving, members and guests were sitting down to a pasta
lunch at the Club and and a good time was had by all.
