2018: Indiv. Stableford (21.3.)

A happy bunch and rightly so
Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 21 March 2018

This Wednesday we played an Individual Stableford competition.  The round also qualified for the Campbell Lamont League.  There was a turn-out of 36 members and on this occasion no guests had been invited to play.
Looking at the scoreboard, there were some excellent results.  Some of our members clearly were “in the zone” when everything went well and made the game of golf look easy.  Moe in particular was well into the zone.  His score of 44 points comes on the back of a very good score last week and has duly been noted by our Handicap Secretary, who incidentally came second and, on another day, could have won easily.  Greta, our Captain, with 37 points, is coping very well with the pressures that come with her Captaincy and does not allow it to interfere with her golf.  Roger and Stan, in 4th and 5th place, again show that they are very steady players.  Congratulations to all for an exeptional round of golf!

The ladies put their stamp on the Nearest to Pin competition today.  They were nearest on all four par 3’s and and also bagged the 2’s prizes.

It was also the day for John and Jan’s Hidden Hole prize. They nominated holes 2, 7, 13 and 17 which they considered to be difficult holes. They proved to be right as, among others, there was a score of 2 points in total.  Well done, Luc Verheagen who had the best score of all players not in the main prizes.

Summarising the results as follows:
John and Jan’s Hidden Holes:  Luc Verhaegen with 9 points.

Nearest the pin:
Hole 4      Kate Hurley
Hole 8      Jan Boultbee
Hole 11    Greta Bierstekere
Hole 14    Greta Biersteker

The 2 twos today went to Greta and Pascale, both on hole 11. Both were awarded the customary golf ball.

The main competition results were:
5th place with 36 points off 19 hcp – Stan Tarabula
4th place with 36 points off 14 hcp – Roger Hunger, beating Stan on the back 9
3rd place with 37 points off 10 hcp – Greta Biersteker
2nd place with 39 points off 10 hcp – Richard Davis
1st place with 44 points off 36 hcp – Moe Farouky
