The first Bill Williams Away Day of the season took place at Font del Llop on a generally mild day with 32 players competing for the traditional prizes. With several Costa Blanca members being unavailable, the club was grateful to eight French colleagues for adding to our numbers to meet our booking commitment. Our captain, Greta, decided to reward their help with a few prizes especially reserved for them.
The course certainly has its challenges, and favours those with accurate driving and the ability to read and play well on several difficult sloping greens. As you will see from the results below, two ladies took the top two places by achieving 37 points, closely followed by a male 36 and two mixed 35s. Our winner, Heidi Dewavrin, (by count-back on the last 6 holes) made it 2 wins in a row, having also won last week's medal! I'm sure the Handicap Secretary is taking note. Well done to her and the others who ran her close - Pascale, Stan, Mo and Jan.
Members are asked to please note and make an early commitment in their diaries, and on our noticeboard, to the next Away Day at Alicante Golf Club on May 30th.
