A lovely June morning greeted the 30 players looking forward, if that's the right phrase, to the chance of doing well in this month's medal. Several of the society's 'swallow' members have already begun to fly away for the summer but this still left a decent-sized field to compete for the honour of gaining the top prizes today.

Today's Podium |
By all accounts the greens, freshly laundered after their annual sanding and hollow-tining, were a little slow, but are certainly looking a good deal healthier and greener after their treatment.
An analysis of the results is interesting; three of our lower handicappers (Greta, Michael and Nino) returned excellent gross scores in the 80's - our captain Greta the best with a gross score of 83, net 73.
However, none of these were in the top 5 because several of our mid- to high handicappers had really good days and finished with impressive net scores. Perhaps the handicap secretary may be perusing their figures with much interest?

David Payne, with his gain |
Whatever, they obviously played the course extremely well today, and congratulations to
David "but I haven't played for 4 weeks" Payne, whose net 69 earned him the right to take home not only the medal but Michael's sponsored Limoncello. Brian Hines was only one behind (8 on the 1st hadn't been the best of starts, but 2 twos helped to rectify things.) As the top picture shows, Pascale, Luc V. and Jim were hard on their heels. Congratulations to them all.
