Today we played our Monthly Medal. Although we welcomed back a few
“swallows”, the turn-out was still quite low with 25 members competing and no
guests. The weather of late had been
quite unsettled. Thunderstorms and torrential rain caused the course to be
closed a few days ago but fortunately everything was back to normal today.
As an experiment, to make it easier for the higher handicapped men, our
Captain decided that any player with an exact handicap of 20 and above should
play off the blue tees. However, looking at the results, nobody was able to
really take advantage of this and as one player said, you still had to deliver
a good short game.
Congratulations to all the winners for a very good round of golf and especially
to Nino, the overall winner with an excellent net score of 68 and by far the
best gross score of 75. He beat Michael,
who with a net 69, was in contention for top spot. It was good to see Kate and Greta
representing the ladies on the winners’ board. Peter, in 5th place
with a net 73, pipped James and Helmut to the post by playing a better back 9.
