Venue: Bonalba
Golf & Spa, 14th October 2015
Today we played our Monthly Medal competition,
somewhat later than usual as the first Wednesday of the month was taken up by
Presidents Day. We had 30 members and 2
guests playing. As we are now in the autumn season, first thing in the morning
the temperatures are much lower than before and there was a lot of dampness on
the course, making playing conditions more difficult. This seems to have been reflected in the overall scores. The course played
4 strokes above par which means that the handicap adjustment was applied to
reductions only. The queen of the par 3’s
was without doubt Ann Brook today with 3 out of 4 nearest the pin. Very well
done, Ann! The top of the leaderboard
was extremely close. It was Eddie who beat Michael by one stroke on the back
9. Congratulations to both players! One consolation for Michael is that he has
gained another valuable 9 points in his quest to win the Consistency Chart.
Luc and Frederick |
The guest prize today was won by Frederick with a very
good score of 30 Stableford points playing off 6 handicap. And to add to his win, we congratulated him
to his Hole-in-One on hole 8! His ball went over the flag and backspin caused it
to roll back into the hole.
After the prize giving, the Captain reminded everyone
that the Captains Day Competiton will be on Wednesday, 28th October with
the Presentation Dinner Dance on Saturday, 31st October at the
Alicante Golf Hotel. He also mentioned
that everyone is welcome to play in the competition but to be eligible for a
prize, you need to attend the Dinner.
