Venue: Bonalba
Golf & Spa, 23rd March 2016
This week being “Semana Santa”, 32 of us turned out to
play a Fun Competition. There was no
qualification for handicap adjustments and the prize was a bottle of “Fizz”
instead of the normal red or white wine, sponsored by our Captain. The weather
was quite sunny but was spoilt somewhat by the winds. We played Individual Stableford with a twist
in as much as the first six holes scored normal points, on the next six holes the scores were doubled
and the last six holes the scores were trebled, giving a par result of 72
points. So it was possible to score an
enormous 12 points on one hole which we saw from James, Jean-Paul and
Chris. Congratulation goes to the winner
James Burnet for an impressive 76 points. He obviously felt happy to be back in the
sunshine after two months in the UK.
We also welcomed back our Ex-Captain Graham Sutton,
with his feet back firmly on the ground, after an extensive stay with his
family down under in Australia and New Zealand. He and his wife Hazel finished
his stay with a climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Good on ya mate!We were saying good-bye to our “laughing Dutchman”, Chris van Bemmelen who will be undergoing an operation on his legs but hopes that his recovery will not be too long before he can play golf again. Keep on laughing, Chris!
The guest prize was again won by Eddie who is about to put his three cards in so that he can be considered for membership of our Society.
The weekly raffle today of a bottle of Limoncello was won by our President Neville.
