Venue: Bonalba
Golf & Spa, 6th April 2016
Today, being the first Wednesday in April, we were competing for the
Monthly Medal. There was a reasonable turnout of 31 players ready to attempt the
challenge at seeing seeing their name on the Medal Winners Board. The heavy rain on the previous days left the
course very damp, making it difficult for some of us, especially for those members
who rely on buggies as they were only allowed on the pathways. Congratulations
go to the winners, especially to “Johnny G” Garnett who won with a spectacular
net score of 69, leading by 3 strokes to the second place and 8 strokes to the
fifth place winner. It was no surprise that he scored two out of the four
birdies on the par three’s. The other two par three holes were taken by Michael.
Sorry, Richard, this time there was no joy for you!
Before the prize giving, our Captain drummed up special interest in next
weeks game announcing that there would be a different first prize to the usual
one of a “Dinner for Two” sponsored by La Perla Restaurant at Bonalba. Members
who have eaten there in the past, will know that the winner will enjoy a
delicious meal.
A good number of players and their guests stayed behind after the prize
giving for the medal lunch at the Bonalba Golf Club Restaurant. Instead of the normal menu del día, we
enjoyed a variety of tapas dishes which made a nice change. Thank you, Captain
Jan for arranging this.
Finally, our thoughts are with our President Neville and his wife Sandra
and their family who have had to deal with a tragic accident in the family and
we are extending our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
