Thunder and lightening in the early hours of the
morning had brought us slightly lower temperatures and a cloud covering as we
signed in for today’s Individual Stableford competition and qualifier for the
Campbell Lamont League. In fact, the odd
rain shower accompanied us throughout our rounds.
We had one outstanding result today of 42 points. It came from one of our French members, Pascale
Leroux. She has been playing extremely well of late and her score came at the
right time as this was a qualifying round for handicap adjustments. Congratulations Pascale for a superb round of
golf. Well done also to John Coubrough,
one of our longstanding members and a former Captain of our Society for his
score of 37 points.
We welcomed back our Vice-Captain Gordon from his recent
travels. He nominated today’s
competition for his Monthly Prize. This
time the prize was for the best score on all par 4’s and who was the winner but
Gordon himself with 25 points which meant an average score of 2.5 points on
each hole. Well played, Gordon. He
generously passed the prize on to Michael Davison, the runner up with a good
score of 20 points. Gordon confirmed his
good round by coming sixth overall and narrowly missed out on one of the main
prizes to Eddie who beat him by 1 point on countback of the last six holes.
