Venue: Bonalba
Golf & Spa, 5 October 2016
Yours truly is back from her travels to the UK and
Switzerland and would very much like to thank Gordon for standing in and
producing the weekly reports.
The tee-off sheet on our website this week showed a
full house for the October Medal competition but due to some very late
cancellations, on the morning of competition there were 37 member players and unfortunately
our guest had to cancel as well. The benign weather conditions, which make October one of the nicests months to be spending in Spain, clearly gave a lot of us that feel good factor judging by the excellent scores at the top of the table. You had to play net par and better to have a chance of being in the first five places. Nino, coming in with a net 69 was somewhat unlucky not to have won the medal as he was beaten by Graham who was in superb form scoring 5 under par and is now due for a nice big cut in his handicap. Our Captain Jan this time narrowly missed out on the prizes to Chris who had a better back nine.
However, it has to be said that Jan seems to cope incrediably well with her duties as Captain and not letting it affect her golf. She is showing a consistency which is admirable and consequently has climbed up to 3rd place in the Consistency Chart. Staying with the Conistency Chart, Richard who has been leading the Chart throughout the year, had to give up his lead to Nino, but only by one point! So watch this space!
Before prize giving the Captain checked with the
players who are heading to Alenda Golf next week as to who will require a buggy
and remined us that the first tee-off time is 10.48
For our customary meal after medal play, we again
stayed at the Bonalba Restaurant for another tapas meal. Graham, besides
celebrating his medal win, had another, much more important reason to
celebrate, it was Hazel and his 48th Wedding Anniversay. We congratule
the happy couple and wish them well for many more happy years and thank you for
treating us to a much appreciated glass of cava.
Summarising the results:
Nearest the pin: Hole 4 They could not be separated: Michael Davison and Kate Hurley
Hole 8 Nino Andres
Hole 11 Nino Andres
Hole 14 Michael Davison
There were six twos today, achieved by 3
players, Michael, Nino and Kate. On hole 4 with the flag invitingly near to the
front of the green, there were four twos coming from the nearest to pin Michael
and Kate and also from Nino and Rob. Nino was also nearest on hole 11, in fact
only a few inches away from it being a hole in one. On hole 14 it was Michaels
turn again. So Bob (our sponsor) take
note – your stock is diminishing fast.
The main competition results were as
follows:
5th place with a net 72 off 22
hcp – Chris van Bemmelen4th place with a net 71 off 14 hcp – Jeff Murten
