The ones who stayed on |
Venue: Bonalba
Golf & Spa, 2 November 2016
After a most enjoyable Captains Dinner last Saturday,
it was back to some serious golf this Wednesday and this being the first
Wednesday in the month, the Monthly Medal
was the competition of the day.
We had a nearly full house of 34 members and 3 guests and even if the
golf was not the best for some of us, we could at least enjoy the wonderful
warm weather.
Congratulations to the winner Nino, one of our Spanish
friends, who played one under par. Was
his good result due to the fact that he did not go into any bunkers or if he
did, was he able to get out of them well?
Apparently for some of the players chasing his result, the bunkers were
their downfall.
The Captain thanked Guy Letort for sponsoring all of
today’s prizes with bottles of wine specially imported from France. Guy
narrowly missed out on one of his own prizes by coming 6th as Edi
with the same number of strokes had a better back nine.
At prize giving, the Captain voiced her disappointment
at the diminished number of players who stayed on for the results. In fact, 6
prizes were awarded to players who were not present which is not in the spirit
of the Society. Unfortunately there is
always a longer waiting time for the groups who go out early but the Captain is
doing her best to mix the tee-off times so that the longer waiting times are
shared out equally.
However, at the same time, all players must be aware to
avoid slow play and to try and keep up with the group in front of them or at
least finish their round at the time allocated by Bonalba Club which is 4.1/2
hours.
