Today we went to Font del Llop for the first of the
six Away Days which are qualifiers for the Bill Williams Away Day Shield. We had 32 members playing Individual
Stableford and on this occasion there were no guests. After the torrential rain at the weekend, we
were glad to see that the weather had returned to more pleasant conditions and
were set to enjoy our day out and we were also happy to see that our Captain
had arranged to tee-off from both tee 1 and tee 10. There were additional
prizes for longest drive and, as Font del Llop has 5 par 3’s, one additional
prize for nearest the pin.
Looking at the results, they reflected the fact that
we were not playing on our home course as only the winning five players played to
or near their handicap. Very well done to everyone on the winners’ board and
special congratulations to Gay for coming first with an excellent 37 points.
We are happy to welcome into our Society our latest
member Jean-Louis Moucheboeuf and congratulate him on his excellent result
scoring 36 points in his first competition as a Society member.
At prize giving, the Captain gave a special thanks to
Bill Williams for his continued sponsorship of the Away Day Shield in 2017.

There were three twos today, on hole 3
from Marie-Jo Lesot and John Garnett and on hole 16 from Gay Brooks. They received the customary golf ball.

3rd place with 35 points off 10 hcp – Richard Davis, beating John on the back 9
