Today we welcomed three
guests to play with our 32 members. It was beautiful weather for our monthly
medal competition and for a third of us the course played very well. Nearly a
quarter of the field kept within their buffer zone and several more were very
close to it. However, there were also a few nil returns recorded, as is often
the way when playing a medal competition.
Nino junior, our lowest handicap member, recorded a net 73 off his handicap of 1 giving him the lowest gross score. He
had 3 birdies on the back nine holes. David Payne, who has been bringing
his handicap down on a regular basis recently, came 3rd overall with a net score
of 71. John Garnett who won the competition today with a magnificent net score
of 69 - three under his handicap of 12 - made 10 pars during his round.
Our captain, Gordon, acknowledged the great success of our league team in topping the table in the southern section of the Costa Blanca League. They will soon try to go one better and beat the winners of the northern section too. He also reminded us of the singles
and doubles knockout draws which he has now posted on the C.B.G.S. notice board
downstairs in the club house. Members are pleased asked to respect the
deadlines for each round.
