2017: Monthly Medal (1.11.)

Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 1 November 2017

Today we played our Monthly Medal competition. In the absence of our Captain, it was his Vice-Captain Greta who steered the ship.  Greta remarked on the fact that she has had a reasonably easy preparation time for today’s tee-off schedule as there were “only” two cancellations and one additional member who wanted to play, so making it an attendance of 34 members and one guest.
In addition to the normal prizes, we also looked forward to John and Jan’s prize for their hidden holes which is awarded to a player who is not in the main prizes. This time they nominated the lowest number of strokes on holes 8, 9, 17 and 18. The actual lowest strokes scored were 16 but the player who was eligible for the prize scored a total of 18 strokes.  Well done, Roger.
The result of the main competition was very closely contested.  There was a difference of only two strokes between the first five places with the second, third and fourth place having to be decided on the better back 9.  Nino, today’s winner, also had the lowest gross score.  Congratulations to him and the “chasing pack”!

Finally, we would like to congratulate Greta on one of her golfing activities outside our Society . She again has been chosen by the Valencia Golf Federation to play in their team against Andalucia.  The match will be played at Bonalba Golf at the beginning of December.  Watch out for the exact date. We will be there to cheer you on, Greta!
