The first Stableford of our new season got underway this Wednesday on an initially crisp but later warm morning in Bonalba. 39 members made up the field.
James Burnet, our treasurer, helped to get our new way of starting the day off to a good start by looking after the cards, the starting sheet, the nearest-the-pin markers and, later, handing out bottles to the 'neary' winners. The president is grateful to those other members who have already signed up to help in this way, but anyone else who is willing to help can always contact him about offering their services.
Results were good: four people scored 34 points - John and Anne Brook, Bob Crow and Santi Hung (one of them was placed 5th overall on his back 9 score); two tied on 35 for places 4 and 3; and two tied on 37 for the overall winner and second place. Congratulations to all. Names revealed below (but the above photograph is a clue.)
Stan Tarabula was the only one to get the customary ball for a birdie 2 today, neatly following up on his nearest-the-pin drive on Hole 4. Tony, Johnny G and Helmut were the others to get close on the other par 3s, but not the birdies.
Members are reminded that the main prizes for all our February competitions will be handed out after play on the 27th Feb., after which as many of you as possible are asked to remember to sign up for and attend our first lunch of the season at Els Foguers de Pablo in El Campello.
Doris and Greta are also eagerly awaiting more deposits for anyone wishing to join us on our annual Away Trip in May - details further down this blog.
