2020: Team Game Pairs Texas Scramble (5.2.)

We should have had the Captain’s Drive-in today, but because of the bad weather conditions two weeks ago, we were one week behind schedule, which meant that we held our AGM today and therefore the competition today was a team game.  We played Texas Scramble 2-ball stroke play, a format that we had not played before.  It was played in two Categories of ten pairs each, where the lower handicap players were paired up and equally, the higher handicap players.  Our thanks goes to Greta who did all the organising for this event, which was very much enjoyed.
The weather during the last few days had been unbelievably warm and sunny, so we could not believe the rainy conditions which we had to endure this morning.  But not being deterred by anything, nearly everybody had turned up to play and were rewarded, as the rain soon stopped and temperatures were rising.
The results of the three best pairs in Category 1 were very close indeed.  The difference was only 0.25 points.  John G and Michael deservedly were awarded first place as they had the lowest gross score of 71.
In Category 2, Brian and Anne had a reasonable lead, ahead of 2^nd and 3^rd place, which again was very close with Ricky and Robert, our newest member,  just being 0.25 points better than Santi and Jan.

We now look forward to the Captain's Drive-in of our  Captain for 2020, Graham Sutton and wish him well for the coming year
