Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa
This Wednesday we played a team game featuring a yellow ball. The yellow ball was played in succession by each player and counted double Stableford points. Each team received 2 yellow balls and, at the end, received an extra five points or 3 points if they returned the two balls or one ball, in addition to the team’s total score of double points.
Special congratulations to the winning team who were well ahead of anyone else.
Although there were only prizes for the best teams, individual scores for the 27 members who took part, were also recorded which counted for all Society competitions.
That golf can be a dangerous sport and players can find themselves in unexpected places, was demonstrated well today by our friend and fellow player Elwyn Price. His trolley with bag and all had a life of its on and decided to go for a swim in the lake adjacent to hole 10. Elwyn managed to rescue the trolley, albeit without the battery, and the contents of his bag were “a bit wet”. Since then, I have heard that his friends have presented him with a snorkel, to be prepared should anything like that happen again.
The summary of today’s competition is as follows:
Nearest the pin:
Hole 4 Stan Tarabula
Hole 8 Maurice Buol
Hole 11 nobody
Hole 14 Robert Heyens
There were 3 twos today, from Stan Tarabula on hole 4, Richard Davis on hole 11 and Eddy Fagg on hole 14.
Team result:
2nd place – 69 points for Tony Dewavrin, Jean-Paul Leroux, Jean-Claude Martinez, Lief Heyens
1st place - 85 points for Eddy Fagg, Brian Hines, Klaudia Martinez, Trish Kelleher
