Sorry, no photos of the winners today but this is John's ball |
Venue: Bonalba
Golf & Spa, 2nd March 2016
Today we were competing for the March Medal. There was an early start as we had a nearly
full house with 35 players. We enjoyed a
pleasant sunny day only slightly spoiled by the windy conditions. Maybe that was the cause for the overall
scores being on the high side. The best
result was one over par from Rob Ritchie who also had the lowest overall gross
score of 78. Impressive play, Bob! Did
we hear someone enquiring when you are due to return to work?
On hole 8 we witnessed a very narrowly missed
hole-in-one hit by John Garnett. His ball pitched left of the flag and kept on
rolling towards it only to stop just before the edge of the hole. What a shame
for John and in a way to all the players today who would have enjoyed toasting
John on the occasion. In case our newer
members are not aware of it, the Society funds include a budget for the customary drinks
from the bar for anyone who scores a hole-in-one.
As usual, the Monthly Medal competition was followed
by lunch. Our Captain chose a restaurant which was a new venue for the monthly
lunches. It was Els Foguers de Pablo in El
Campello. We were not disappointed as
the food was delicious and the sunny weather made it possible for us to eat
outside on the terrace.
It was good to
see that Keith and Pauline were able to come to the lunch. Keith is recovering
well after his knee operation and hopefully will be able to enjoy his golf very
soon.
We would also like to extend our very best wishes to
Marleen for a speedy recovery after her recent operation.
Finally, we wish to congratulate the League Team who
played Pego Golf Society at Alicante Golf and won 8-0. A great result which will certainly help with
our endeavour to return to the First Division.
