2017: Bill Williams Away Day Shield Villaitana (30.8.)

Braving the rain and bringing home the points

A very soggy start to the day discouraged a few from making the trip to Villaitana, but those 20 players who did turn up (19 members and 1 guest) were rewarded because by midday the sun had come out to play. The course was wet underfoot, the greens slow and a bit bumpy due to recent tining and yesterday's weather but, nevertheless, there were some extremely good scores from our winners and several handicap cuts will have to be arranged.

Because of the cancellations, groups had to be hastily re-arranged which unavoidably left 2 4ball groups going out ahead of 4 3ball groups. Not ideal but the overall pace of play seemed to your captain to pose very few delays - so congratulations today for getting on with play promptly.  Is ready golf making a difference?

Presentations took place in lovely sunshine on the well-appointed terrace overlooking the final green, the convivial atmosphere suggesting that everyone was pleased to have made the decision to play.
