Where is Klaudia? |
This Wednesday we played away from Bonalba. Our venue was Alenda Golf, a course which is
always popular with our members. With an
attendance of 35 players, we took up all the tee-times allocated to us. The competition
format was Individual Stableford and it was one of 6 qualifying rounds for the
Bill Williams Away Day Shield.
A chilly start soon turned into a very pleasant warm and sunny day with
hardly any breeze. This and the good condition of the course, presented us with a good
basis to play well. This was confirmed by the overall scoring and the
leader board with the first three players scoring par and better and
four players achieving 34 points. An excellent result considering Alenda is not our home course. Michel Le Borgne, our newest member, made his
mark by coming second. A loud cheer went up to today’s winner, Jean-Paul,
followed by an enthusiastic rendition of the Marseillaise. Well done to all of the prize winners. Unfortunately
Peter van der Mee and Roger Hunger narrowly missed out on the prizes, both
scoring 34 points but were beaten on countback of the back nine.
There were quite a few of birdies on the par 3’s. On hole 5, three players scored birdies and on
hole 16, Pierre had a very easy putt for a birdie, in fact, he was unlucky that
the ball did not go in for a hole-in-one.
Before prize giving, the Captain reminded us that the first round of the
Singles Knock-out matches needs to be completed by 13th
October. He also asked all members who
are attending the Captain’s Dinner and had not done so, to fill in the choices
for the meal by Monday. We are all looking
forward to Captain’s Day on the 18th and Captain’s Dinner on the 21st
of this month.
