2017: Monthly Medal (4.10.)

The winner is trying to stay incognito
Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 4 October 2017

This was the first Wednesday of the month and we played our customary Monthly Medal competition.  The weather forecast promised a calm, warm and sunny day and it did not disappoint.  As we assembled for our competition, our thoughts went to all our “swallow” members who had not yet made it to warmer climes and have to endure the cold rain and winds. Our special sympathies went to our Birmingham swallows, Elwyn and John who were all set to enjoy the good weather but Monarch Airlines unfortunately spoilt their plans and they had to cancel their game.  So on the day we had an attendance of 36 members and our “resident” guest Noel.

The results show that the top five places went to players with a good cross section of handicaps.  Our octogenarian Keith was again in the frame beating Helmut for 5th place with a better back 9. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th places also had to be decided on the results of the back 9.  Luckily there was a clear result for first place. David came in with a 3 shot lead scoring 69 and is on course of steadily reducing his handicap. Special congratulations to him for an excellent round of golf.

Before prize giving, the Captain reminded us to play your round within the time allocated by the Club and to avoid slow play.  We are the first group to go out in the morning and overstepping the time allocated means a delay of all subsequent tee-times.
