2018: Monthly Medal (5.12.)

Wednesday 5th December 2018 - Medal Results

The first Wednesday of the month is Medal Day. 31 members took up the challenge on a lovely, sunny and warm December morning.  No excuse, then, for the ‘above average net scores’ which were captain Greta’s opening words at the presentation.

Nevertheless there were some good scores, and the list of today’s top 10 players showed the real international flavour of our membership - you will find France, England, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Switzerland represented there, and not too far behind you can add Norway, Scotland and Egypt!  Hong Kong, New Zealand and Ireland will have to try harder next time.

The top 5 net scores spread from 74 to 71, with 3rd and 4th, and 1st and 2nd having to be separated on countback. Eight more players covered the range from 74 to 77 as well. Martine Bernois was the overall winner with a splendid net 71, so well done to her.  With our secretary making a quick trip back to Blighty, your correspondent regrets that a picture of the winning group is missing this time.

The full list of winners is added below.

One of our members, Roger Hunger, will not be able to play with us regularly for the foreseeable future since he will be spending more time in Barcelona and his home in New Zealand. We wished him well on Wednesday, and were delighted to help drink the cava he so kindly offered to us all as a (temporary) farewell toast. I understand he will keep his membership going. Buen viaje!

Members are reminded that next week is our pre-Christmas bash, with a Texas scramble, shotgun start and lunch being organised at the club, plus the traditional exchange of small presents between the players.
