Where is Richard? |
Venue: Villaitana Golf, 23 January 2019
Today we had our last Away Day, which was a qualifier for the Bill
Williams Away Day Trophy for 2018. After
many years of Sponsorship, this Competition has now come to an end, as in
future, due to a substantial increase in green fees, we will have a reduced
number of Away Days and this does not make if feasible to have a separate
competition. Our heartfelt thanks go to
Bill for his generous sponsorship of the Trophy over many years and for his
commitment to continue his sponsorship in some other way.
We had a good turn-out of 31 members and 4 guests, all playing Individual
Stableford. The weather forecast had
been for very strong winds, but fortunately, the wind stayed at speeds which
did not spoil our game. The course was
in excellent condition and especially the fairways. No wonder that buggies were only allowed on
the paths. Some of us found the greens a
little difficult as they had recently been sanded.
The slope rating of Villaitana matched more or less our exact handicaps,
so we found that our playing handicaps were considerably reduced, compared to
our playing handicaps for Bonalba.
Nevertheless, there were some respectable results posted. This course is friendly to the Ladies which
is reflected by the winners’ list. 6 out
of the first 7 places were held by our lady members, including the overall
winner Thea, with Richard being “the odd man out”.
Congratulations to all and especially to Thea coming first. Thea and Jan are going back to Holland
soon. We wish them all the best and hope
to see them again in the not too distant future.
