Venue: Bonalba Golf &
Spa, 16 January 2019
Today we played Individual Stableford which was a qualifying competition
for handicap adjustments. The warm and
sunny weather was still with us and 42 members plus one guest went out to enjoy
these wonderful conditions, comparable to a nice spring day in the Northern
hemisphere.
It was one of those days when the results were above average and quite a
few players might have thought that, when handing in their scorecard, it was
good enough to be in the prizes. But
playing to your handicap with 36 points only put you into 8th, 9th,
10th and 11th place.
Well played, Edi, Richard, Maureen and Pascal, but unfortunately today not
good enough to be on the winners’ list.
There were three players with 37 points who all competed for 5th
place. Again an excellent result, but
unfortunately Jan Boultbee and Jean-Jacques Lavergne narrowly missed out by
taking account of the scores on the back 9. 38 points were still not enough for top spot,
so placings 2 to 4 also had to be decided on countback of the back 9.
However, our Captain Greta surpassed all of us with a top result of 42
points. Congratulations, Greta. Your
lesson on the previous day had obviously paid off!
There was some extra sponsorship today, so our Captain decided to
increase the prizes for nearest the pin.
There were two prizes on all four par 3’s, one for players with a
handicap <22 and one for players with a handicap of >22 and the latter was for nearest the pin in two. Hole 8 saw Chris
and Santi both putting in for two and therefore sharing that prize.
Next week sees our last Away Day for the year and Richard reminded everyone
that, if you need to cancel, to do so in good time as otherwise you will have
to be charged your green fee.
Summarizing the results:

Hole 4 Brian Wakely and Pascale
