First Wednesday of the month meant Medal play, but this time with a difference. Sometimes referred to as a Double Par Maximum format, this means golfers pick up when reaching a score of double par on a hole (6 on a par 3 etc..) rather than carrying on until the ball is holed. This helps to save time, but also to avoid confidence and card-destroying large scores!
It was a lovely, sunny and warm day with hardly a breath of wind. 38 members took to the course from tee 10, since some works were in progress on the fairways of the front nine. This number includes 2 new Dutch members, Andrea Straus and Marcel Barink, whom we welcome warmly to our society.
There was a large spread of results as usual, but the top 5 certainly produced very creditable scores - you will notice three lady members are in that group - so nice to see Sandra Woodfine up there in 5th place just behind the excellent scoring of Maureen and Jan. Well done also to Santi who almost made it to the very top, but was pipped by a net 69 from an in-form Nino - many congratulations on his gross score of 77 which was way ahead of the rest.
