This Wednesday’s competition was dedicated to St. Patrick, the Patron
Saint of Ireland. The day was sponsored
by our Irish members Jim and Kate Hurley who had asked us to wear “something
green”, in celebration of St. Patrick.
Everybody entered into the spirit of the occasion, as can be seen on our
website’s Photo Gallery. Unfortunately,
the weather had changed from near summer temperatures to more normal March
conditions, but this did not deter some of our players who braved the lower
temperatures, by turning up in some eye catching outfits.
The main competition was Bogey Play, where on every hole you score
either a plus (+) for a score better than your net par, a zero (0) for a net
par or a minus (-) for a score worse than your net par. Apart from prizes for the main competition, there
was an abundance of other prizes, as can be seen below, all chosen with a lot
of thought by Jim and Kate to remind us of Ireland. In
addition, there was a prize for the best front and back 9’s, generously
sponsored by their guests Francois and Patricia.
The prize giving was a jolly affair with Irish music, cava and some
dancing from Kate and the overall winner James.
And, of course, a few pints of Guinness could be spotted here and there.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Jim and Kate for their generous sponsorship
of a truly enjoyable day.
