Today's 37 members, plus two returning guests (Len and Kay McAllister) soon to be members themselves, were greeted by somewhat blustery but warm conditions this morning. Plenty of prizes were on offer, some from the Society's wine cellar but also from several generous sponsors. Jan and John provided their monthly prize of a sleeve of balls to the "hidden holes" winner; Bob Crow's long-standing prize of a ball for any birdie 2 winner; and our new sponsors, Stan and Christiane Tarabula, offered bottles of Champagne to the winners of the bi-monthly Stableford tournament, played over 4 rounds through February and March. We send our thanks to the sponsors and our congratulations to the winners.
David Payne accepted the role of duty monitor for the day, meeting and greeting, handing out the cards and pin markers, and finally announcing the winners in very efficient fashion at the presentation. Your president is grateful to all those who are volunteering to do this duty throughout the year; it shares the load, and is intended to involve more members in the running of the society.
Scoring was reasonably good, especially in view of the windy conditions, the top 5 ranging from 34 to 37 Stableford points. Full results are shown below, and reveal the rather international flavour of the winners this week!
Our vice-President, Richard, wishes to stress the importance of your keeping a close eye on Master Scorecard. It is members' individual responsibility to ensure that you are aware of when new competitions become available to sign in, and to try to remember to do so in good time.
And the President once again reminds you to sign up for the Gala Evening at Hotel Bonalba on Friday May 3rd to celebrate our 25th Anniversary, and that the hotel is offering a price of 62 euros for a double room with breakfast if you wish to stay overnight.
