Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 24 April
2019
It was a relief that the bad weather over Easter had finally passed us by. We had experienced a mini “gota fria” over the whole of the Easter holiday, which caused the course to be closed all of Saturday and part of Sunday. Although the rain somewhat spoiled everyone’s holiday, it was good for the vegetation and helped the grass grow to a lush green. To further aid with the recovery of the course, buggies today were only allowed on the pathways. The greens were softer than usual which made it difficult to judge the speed of the ball and many of us short-putted. However, this did not always seem the case, especially on the par three’s, as 5 players had birdie twos. Interestingly, Eddy was the only one who was nearest to the pin and then converted this into a birdie.
The team par was a net 108 points. Special congratulations goes to the winning team who played 5 shots better than par and were 7 shots ahead of the team in second place. This very good result was helped by Michael scoring 39 points, which also made him the winner of the Individual Stableford. Well done, Michael.
Our thanks go to John and Jan for organising today’s competition, dealing with the scorecards and presenting the prizes, with the help of Neville, our ex President.
