2019: Indiv. Stableford Q (19.6.)

Venue:  Bonalba Golf & Spa, 19 June 2019

Today we played Individual Stableford which qualified for all Society competitions but not for handicap purposes. There were 36 of us and 2 guests with 8 tee-offs from the first tee and 2 from the 10^th which helped cutting down the overall time of the competition.
It was a beautiful day with temperatures still not too hot to be uncomfortable, helped by a nice fresh breeze.  The course also is in very good condition and the on-going work will improve it even more.  Major work at the moment is being carried out on hole 3 where the complete green is being renewed.  This means that the hole has a temporary green is rated a par 3 during this time.

Many of us enjoyed a very good round of golf as half of us scored 32 and more points with the top scores reaching par and better.  Special congratulation go to today’s winner, Dave Tomlins, one of our new members.  Jean-Charles Collini, our other new member, narrowly missed out on the prizes to Helmut and Michael.  Marie-Jo and Brian were competing for 2^nd and 3^rd place.  Brian’s putt on the 18th lipped out, which was one of the reasons for Marie-Jo coming second.

As we are all aware, putts can make or break the result of a hole, ably demonstrated today by the ever young Keith on hole 17, not an easy hole because of the water hazard.  Avoiding the water, Keith had three very good shots and a 6-foot putt, giving him a great par.  Well done, Keith!



John and Jan’s Hidden Holes this month were all the odd holes on the front 9, i.e. holes 1, 3 5, 7 and 9.

4^th place with 36 points off 14 hcp – Helmut Treiber, with a better back 9

3^rd place with 39 points off 23 hcp – BrianHines

2^nd place with 39 points off 25 hcp  –  Marie-Jo Lesot, with a better back 9

1^st place with 40 points off 14 hcp – Dave Tomlins
