2019: Indiv, Stableford Q (17.7.)

 Venue:  Bonalba Golf & Spa, 17 July 2019

Today was our last official competition before the summer break. 27 members and 1 guest braved the heat to play Individual Stableford and had the chance to get their handicap adjusted as this competition counted for all Society competitions including handicaps.  

There was further motivation to come in with a good card as this was the fourth round in the June/July Stableford Challenge sponsored by Stan and Christiane Tarabula where the best total of three results count, in Divisions 1 and 2 and the winners are awarded with a good bottle of champagne (the real stuff!).

Today's scoreboard showed some very respectable results, especially as the playing conditions were not too easy. Congratulations to Michael Davison who was our top player today, closely followed by our newest member, Dave Tomlins in second place. Five players were competing for 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th place, all scoring 35 points.  So the placings had to be decided by countback of the back 9.  Commiserations to Stan and Pascale who just missed out on the prizes.

Our thanks goes to Brian Wakely who was on rota duty this Wednesday (with or without reading glasses).
Our thanks also goes to Brian Hines who will be organising the games during the summer break.

The first official competition after the summer break will be on 28 August and is an Away Day at Poniente, the shorter of the two courses of Villaitana.

Division 1 – Nino Andres Aloras with 112 points (2^nd Michael Davison with 111 points)

Division 2 – David Payne with 105 points (2^nd John Webber with 95 points)

There were 3 twos today, on hole 4 from Greta, hole 8 from Helmut and on hole 11 from Eddy Fagg. They were awarded the customary golf ball.

5^th place with 35 points off 23 hcp – John Rigby

4^th place with 37 points off 25 hcp – David Payne with a better back 9

3^rd place with 35 points off 15 hcp – Bob Crow again with a better back 9

2^nd place with 36 points off 14 hcp  –  Dave Tomlins

1^st place with 38 points off 13 hcp – Michael Davison
