SEPTEMBER'S MEDAL RESULTS
Today's winners - an international whitewash! |
What a contrast in yesterday's weather to the thundery rain of last week's abandoned competition!
31 members, many in T-shirts and shorts, began and ended today's medal in lovely mid-September sunshine. Perhaps the sun got in our eyes because the results were a bit below par - or rather above par, depending on how you interpret the phrase! Only 8 players managed a net score in the 70s, but well done to them, especially to our Club Secretary - Doris Shearman-Earp - who won the medal with an impressive net 74. Congratulations to her and the other wine recipients detailed below.
Your correspondent decided to restrict the nearest-the-pin challenges on the par 3s this week, lower handicaps competing on the longer holes 11 and 14, higher handicaps on holes 4 and 8. Look out in future weeks for similar changes, aimed at spreading the possibility of prizes a little wider.
Richard Davis didn't win nearest the pin on Hole 11, but he still was the only one to register a birdie 2, obviously from further away; and the only birdie 2 anywhere today.
