2019: Texas Scramble (25.9.)

TEXAS SCRAMBLE RESULTS

Firstly, apologies for the lack of a photograph of the winners today, but with our dear Secretary out of the country at the moment, your correspondent forgot about the photo-op.

9 teams of four were competing for the prizes today in the Texas Scramble format. The teams, unusually, had rather different total handicap allowances which meant that those comprised of only lower handicaps would have to produce lots of pars and birdies in order to be in contention - and this they duly did - but still only managed second place. A contingent from Belgium and France (Tony Dewavrin, Marie Josée Lesot, Eric Pages and Pascal Guy) combined to wrest the crown, or at least some fine bottles of Rietos Roble wine, from them. Congratulations on a winning net result below 60.

The organiser, Greta, made the point at the presentation that all the groups but one came in with net scores below par; so congratulations to everyone for such a commendable set of results. In all there were 29 birdies recorded, including 2 on the par 3s. David Payne holed his from about 60 feet on Hole 14! - and very unfortunate that his handicap group was not in contention for nearest the pin on this hole!

A full set of results is as follows:

Nearest the pins
Hole 4:  Santi Hung
Hole 8:  Pierre Lesot
Hole 11: John Garnett
Hole 14:    -

Birdie 2s
Hole 8:  Pascal Guy
