2019: Away Day Alicante Golf (11.12.)

Venue:  Alicante Golf, 11 December 2019

This Wednesday we left our home course of Bonalba and went to Alicante Golf.  This Away Day, like all the other Away Days, again was generously sponsored by Bill Williams, which made it possible to give more awards than normal.  In addition to the usual prizes, there were prizes for nearest the pin on the 6 par 3’s which is one of the features of this course.  There were also prizes for longest drives and longest putts.
The competition format was Individual Stableford.  It qualified for handicap adjustments and all Society competitions.  It was also the last round to qualify for the 2-monthlyTarabula Champagne Challenge. Pascal and Gordon continued in their recent good form and emerged as both, the winner and runner-up of today’s competition and also winning the Champagne Challenge.  Many congratulations!

Despite the opportunity of getting near the pin on 6 occasions, there was only one birdie.  This came from Rob on hole 8. He received the customary golf ball.

The results of the main competition were:

5^th place with 34 points off 27 hcp – Klaudia Martinez

4^th place with 35 points off 9 hcp – Eric Pages

3^rd place with 37 points off 34 hcp – Pierre Lesot

2^nd place with 37 points off 28 hcp –  Gordon Burton, beating Pierre on countback of back 9

1^st place with 41 points off 23 hcp – Pascal Guy
