2020: Indiv. Stableford Q (29.1.)

Venue:  Bonalba Golf & Spa, 29 January 2020

This was the qualifying Stableford competition which was postponed from last week because of bad weather.  It was the final qualifying round for the various annual Society competitions, some of which were so close that today’s results could make the difference, and which would be revealed at the Presentation Lunch after today’s prize giving.
The weather today was warm and sunny, but unfortunately, the wind got up later in the morning which made the back 9 more difficult to play.  Hole 13 is one of the holes which is always hard to play in windy conditions and this proved to be the case today, especially with the pin at the front of the green.  The overall results seem to reflect these conditions as nobody played to par and consequently, the buffer zone was -1.
We had a full house today with 37 members and 3 playing guests who, after the competition, were joined by non-playing family and friends for the Annual Prize Presentation in the Club Restaurant.  Photos of the event can be seen in Gallery of the website.

There were 3 2’s today, on hole 8 from Jean-Paul Leroux and Helmut Treiber, on hole 11 from John and on hole 14 from Rob Ritchie.  They all received the customary golf ball.

The results of the main competition were:

5^th place with 32 points off 16 hcp – Edi Rogers

4^th place with 33 points off 33 hcp – Moe Farouky

3^rd place with 33 points off 25 hcp – Ricky Nelson with a better back 9

2^nd place with 34 points off 12 hcp – Michael Davison

1^st place with 35 points off 30 hcp  – Doris Shearman-Earp
