2020: Texas Scramble (11.3.)

Venue:  Bonalba Golf & Spa, 11 March 2020

This Wednesday we competed as teams.  The format was a Texas Scramble with 4 drives each.  With 40 members on the list, we had a full house, using up all of our allocated tee-times and there were, to the delight of our Captain, no cancellations to deal with.  The warm and sunny weather contributed to an enjoyable round of golf.

The computer had drawn up the teams and worked out the handicaps for each team reasonably evenly.  Therefore, the results for the winning teams were also quite close, with the exception of the team in first place who won with a good lead. Special congratulations to the winning team, to Eddy, Tony, Pascal and Pierre.

On the par 3’s, Brian Wakely again was nearest on hole 14, after his hole-in-one last week and Michael’s putting was working well, scoring birdies on holes 4 and 8, even though he was not nearest.

There were a total of 3 twos today, on hole 4 from Edi and Michael, and on hole 8 also from Michael. They both received the customary golf ball.

5^th place with a net 62.9 off 9.1 hcp – Richard Davis, Brian Hines, Jan Boultbee and Wendy Wakely

4^th place with a net 62.7 off 9.3 hcp – Edi Rogers, Chris van Bemmelen, Santi Hung and John Brooks

3^rd place with a net 62.7 off 9.3 hcp and a better back 3 – Michael Davison, Peter van der Mee, Kate Hurley and John Brook

2^nd place with a net 62.6 off 9.1 hcp – Helmut Treiber, Jean-Paul Leroux, Marie-Jo Lesot and Sandra Woodfine

1^st place with a net 60.9 off 9.1 hcp  – Eddy Fagg, Tony Dewavrin, Pascal Guy and Pierre Lesot
