2018: Bill Williams Away Day Trophy (21.11.)

Venue: Alicante Golf, 21 November 2018

This Wednesday we competed for the Bill Williams Away-Day Shield. The venue was Alicante Golf, which is “just down the road” from our home course Bonalba. It is a popular course with our members which also showed in the attendance figure. There were 34 of us playing Individual Stableford.

There was some exceptional scoring today.  The first three places had 40 points and more, all scored by our male players.  This was not altogether surprising as all yellow tees, except for one, were positioned on the red tee boxes thus making the course for the men much shorter than normal.  Therefore, this round of golf became a non-qualifying round for handicap purposes.
At prize giving, our Captain Greta announced that to receive their prizes, everyone would need to wear a skirt or drop their trousers.  Richard, she was joking!
However, one of our lady players, Jan Boultbee, managed against all odds to be in the top 5.

This course has 6 par three’s and our Captain decided to be generous and award nearest to pin on all 6 of them. Hole 17 was reserved for Ladies only but unfortunately none of us ladies were able to get on to the green.

Summarizing the results:

Nearest the Pin:
Hole 3                                 Pascal Guy

Hole 12                               John Garnett
Hole 15                               Richard Davis
