Today's winner did not make it to the photo shoot but his portrait is on the Monthly Medal Winners' board |
Venue: Bonalba Golf & Spa, 6 March 2019
Today we played our Monthly Medal competition, which is always a bit
more stressful, as every stroke counts and the difference between winning and
losing can be the nemesis of just one hole.
We had an attendance of 36 players, all raring to go and win that medal. The weather was good, cloudy but warm and not
too windy, so good conditions for playing golf.
The top five players came in with scores of one under to one over
par. The overall results were in line
with most of our Medal competitions, with half of the players scoring 80 and
over. Chris and Gay battled it out on
the back 9 for first place. The placing
of Keith and Pascale also had to be decided on play on the back 9. The Brooks’ family had a good golfing day with
John taking third place one stroke behind his wife. Congratulations to all the winners!
The flag on par 3 hole 8 was placed in the middle of the green today
which seemed a favourable position for making birdies. There were three of them, one of which was a
very easy one from Pascale who was unlucky not to get a hole in one. Surprisingly, on hole 11 nobody reached the
green.
After having reviewed the decision of a monthly prize giving, we
reverted to a weekly prize presentation, which seemed to be appreciated by the
majority of our members.
Our thanks goes to Brian Hines who was on rota duty this week.
