2020: Indiv. Stableford/Team Game (9./16.9.)

The winning team 16.9. (without Tony)

Venue:  Bonalba Golf & Spa

Today we had a prize presentation for the last two competitions.

On the 9th September we played the usual Individual Stableford competition. It was a particular high scoring day, where 18 out of 24 players scored over 30 points and the top scores were “sky high”.  You had to play better than par to be in the top 5.  In fact, Jean-Paul with 37 points narrowly missed out on a top 5 place to his wife Pascale who had a better score on the back 9.

The summary of this competition was as follows:

5th place with 37 points off 30 hcp – Pascale Leroux

4th place with 37 points off 33 hcp – Keith Preston, with a better back 9

3rd place with 38 points off 23 hcp  – Stan Tarabula

2nd place with 39 points off 21 hcp – Tony Dewavrin

1st place with 42 points of 28 hcp  – Robert Heyens

Nearest the pins:

Hole 4 (for hcp 22+)           Robert    Heyens

Hole 8 (for hcp 22+)           Jean-Paul Leroux, also putting in for a two.

Hole 11 (for hcp upto 21)   Richard Davis

Hole 14 (for hcp upto 21).  Greta Biersteker

This Wednesday, we played a team game where the best 3 scores on each hole counted. This format also allowed to qualify for the WWHC and the Society competitions.  Special Congratulations go to the winning team who scored 12 points more than the second and third team.

You may have wondered why on several of the holes on the front nine there were big patches of churned up grass.  No, these were not divot after divot after divot.  Apparently, the night before the course was visited by wild boars coming in from the Río Seco and digging up the ground looking for food.

The summary of the team competition was as follows:

3rd place with 112 points – Richard Davis, Jean-Charles Collini, Santi Hung, Moe Farouky

2nd place with 112 points and a better back 9 – Helmut Treiber, Brian Wakely, Jan Boultbee, Pascale Leroux

1st place with 124 points – Greta Biersteker, Tony Dewavrin, Brian Hines, Doris Shearman-Earp
